Subject: New Plug Wires Too Short
IP: Logged

Message:
I bought a new (best quality) plug wires from Carquest and 2 of the wires are too short.
I can't put them into the plastic clips on the valve cover, I have to let them touch the hot valve cover.
Another wire is also too ahort and rubs tightly on the heat pipe that goes to the air cleaner.
Carquest re-checked the part number and the IS the correct set for my truck.
1991 V6 standard tranny.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You are sure you removed 1 wire at a time and
matched the length exactly? If so I would take them
back for a refund.

Try a Belden wire set from NAPA. They are OEM quality, never had a problem fitting them.

CURLY: Yes one at a time, 2 of my old wires are about 1 to 1.5 inches longer than even the longest wire in the new set.

Bob Lincoln: I may have to do that.
The truck runs better with the news wires, I just can't use the clip holder on the right bank (pass side).
I may also get those plastic wire covers to put on where it rubs on metal.
Thanks guys for your help.
