I have a 3.7 4wd Dakota with overdrive transmission, the question I have is what speeds should the transmission shift?

There's no defined speed that you can cite, only a range for each gear. The faster you accelerate, the higher speed the shift points will be.
Having the year would help.

OK, so this is the 5-speed automatic?
I've only rented one once, but generally at gentle throttle, it will shift out of 1st around 10-15 mph, and be in 5th by about 45-50 mph.
