Message:
I just developed a rattle from the upper radiator hose, and i
can hear it when I squeeze it and the truck is off.
When it's on, u can hear the rattle.
Well it's causing my truck to overheat a little,
Doesn't reach 210 but it's above more than normal.
What is going on?
Should I replace the hose?

Oh n it cools down when I'm driving, starts heating up wen
I'm on idle or at a stoplight.

Upper hose feels bland, squishy n u can feel a spiral inside
the hose.

You better check and make sure your mechanical fan and the electric fan are working as they should.

Looked at it just now, my mechanical fan doesn't have play
so I know my water pump is ok, no leaking, and my coolant
level is just fine, and my electrical fan, how do I check that?
I noticed it overheated when I started elevating at 4,000 ft
at the mountains yesterday, started heating up at slow
speeds like 25mph uphill, and as soon as I went faster like
45mph it started cooling down. Also when going downhill.
It hasn't passed 210 but it got pretty close, and I remember
my gauge not even going up as high as it is now before it
cools.

Ya think it's my thermostat? It's a 180 degree duralast one.

The electric fan comes on for 2 reasons.

1) Demand for A/C and engine temp above 130degF.

2) Engine temp at 210degF

If it doesn't come on under either of these start checking the realy and fuse first. then the fan motor itself.

Ah I gotcha, I thought it only came up after 210, I didn't know
bout the second reason, well I haven't let the truck heat up til
210, the light turns green and when it starts getting some air
it cools down.

I'm sure it works though. And how do I check that clutch fan?
It doesn't wobble so that's a start.

I feel like its that crappy 180 duralast stat.

You should hear the mechnical when the cltuch engages. It should roar at an idle. When it's hot, the clutch should engage. I don't run a mechanical fan on mine and it's very very rare that it reaches 210. when it does the electric fan kicks comes on and the temp comes right down. Make sure your radiator is clean on the outside and also the condenser is clean.

The condenser coil is in front of the radiator. It is a part of the A/C system.

Ok illl clean them and see if it's still overheating.

And I don't know why it is always something breaking down,
Either dodge sucks or the regular owner didn't take care of
It. It's not salvaged.
So far I've had to replace, fuel pump, oil pump, rack n pinion,
the rotors and pads and rear pads, the brake master cylinder,
heater core, o2 sensors, and I'm sure my wheel bearings are
out because I can hear them rattle sometimes when I go on
bumps or turns.
The truck is a lemon.

Radiator and condenser are fine. Just got a couple bit of tiny
rocks spread over it. But it looks fine.
The fan clutch is not loose but not too hard to spin when the
truck is cold. So when I spin it, it spins like a couple of inches
and stays put. If I'm facing the truck and spin it
counterclockwise it will spin but won't keep spinning.

When warmed up, the fan clutch will spin both ways for a
couple of inches then stays put.

I checked my engine temp sensor, and that's fine too.

After you make repairs you will have a nice reliable truck.

I bought a salvage vehicle a few yours back, I will never do that again, all my money was going because of something breaking every week.

Yea well hopefully the engine ends up lasting, I'm a college

Your gas mileage is probably horrible because you have bigger than stock tires on there.

Ok turns out that duralast thermostat was ok. I put a 180Jet
anyway cause the duralast was tripping a code.

The heater core I use to replace the old one cost 75$ and it
broke, it works, but it's just leaking a little. I used a sealant to
seal cracks in the heads and radiator to see if maybe it will
seal my heater core. Hopefully it works. I noticed it's the
heater core cause sometimes I can smell antifreeze and the
hole on the firewall sometimes leaks.

I noticed it overheats when on idle or when the truck isn't
moving.

Should I just replace the new heater core with one that isn't
the cheapest one? Cause I bought the cheapest one and well
I got what I payed for. :(

Thanks for ur input guys.

My opinion- Duralast is crap. They call it "neverlast" for a reason.
