Im stumped & hoping that someone here can help. I have a 98 Dakota 3.9 5 speed 4x4. Been fighting this for over a year now. Truck will start & run good, sometimes for days. Then it will either "hicup" while going down the road, or just outright die. Sometimes it'll only run for a few mins before it dies.
I've done a complete tune up (plugs, wires, cap, button.) I've replaced the mapp sensor, crank sensor, camshaft position sensor, idle air control valve, throttle position sensor. Have re-replaced the camshaft position sensor. I swapped in a known good relay for the auto shutdown relay. I've replaced both oxygen sensors. And that cat converter is not obstructed (I absolutely know this if you follow me.) I've read on here that there is a splice in the wireing harness that sometimes fails, but its usually found only on older dakotas. If its there I cant find it.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do, short of driving it off a cliff or practically giving it away to be somebody elses problem. Like I said I've been at this for over a year now, and am very frusterated with this.
Thanks in advance
Dave
