I started having a friction noise like the clutch plate was not disengaging from the disc a while back. I thought it may be the hydraulics in the clutch so I changed the assembly entirely. The clutch pedal works better but the noise is still there. The noise occurs when I shift gears just as I am engaging the syncro into the next gear up. It happens in all the gears the same and more so if I run the rpms up in the gear before I shift. If I shift really slow it does not happen as if I am giving the clutch disc time to slow down. The clutch performs properly with no slipping, throw out bearing noise and a high clutch release in the pedal about 2 1/2 inches off of the floor. I have changed the oil in the transmission to 15/40 shell Rotella T, A high grade diesel rated oil. The transmission works better but noise is still there. This is a 1994 Dakota 4wd, 5 speed manual,170000 miles. My thought is that the clutch disc is binding or tight on the spines of the input shaft of the transmission and is rubbing momentarily on the plate as it slows down.If this is the case I would need to lubricate the spline to disc to free it up. I really don't want to pull the tranny. Can anyone think of a McGyver to get lubricant to it?
