I tried the check valve trick numerous times and every time
my truck starts the first time.
So this means my check valve is bad.
Does this mean I gotta replace the whole fuel pump?

Unfortunately, Yes. You do have the no cost option of just using that key trick before you start it. The fuel pump/ fuel gage sending unit and pressure regualtor w/ check valve are all one unit.

Oh man, but that check valve is ruining my MPG though, I
hear people get like 16mpg outta these trucks, same year
too. I'm getting 12mpg again. I did the math I am getting
around 12mpg. Rounded. So yah the computer is pretty
accurate. May be off by 1mpg but no more. I think it will be
worth it if I just get the fuel pump, besides I hate that rich
smell when I start it. What do ya think?

Well, If the fuel pressure is not in spec it can attribute to poor fuel mileage. That rich smell you're getting in the morning is not right. There is something else going on. My '00 QC 4x2 gets 18-19 around town and I've gotten as high as 24hwy. Exactly what truck do you have again?

What size are these tires and what size were the original tires?

Nit sure what size were the original, we bought it with mud
tires. But the ones on now have are 31x10.50 r15lt.
The originals are p215/75r15.

Checked my fuel pressure, it was high, and when I turn the
engine off it drops to 10 in seconds. It's supposed to stay
pressured until 30psi for like 4-5 minutes.
So my check valve and fuel pressure regulator are messed
up.

Well that tire change is where most of your mileage has gone. That's an 11% increase in tire diameter. Now if you check your inside glove box lid for the rear end gear ratio I bet it is 3.21 which is already a dog. Now you've changed that to a 3.00:1 ratio, even worse.

And like I posted earlier, If your exhaust is smelling rich there is something else wrong you're missing.

Ah I get ya. Well the gears are 3.55
And why mileage should I be getting?

And Mayb my cat is bad? It's got a little crack on it, not sure if
its heat damaged but I'll check it later.
What would cause my truck to smell rich?
I did do the CPS maybe it's timing is too high idk why ya
suggest I check?

Check for codes even if the CEL is not lit. O2 sensors, MAP sensor has the most effect for the PCM to determine proper fuel mixture. Make sure the O2 sensor is working properly. If you have a service manual check for the procedure to test the MAP sensor. Also, did you change the thermostat recently?

O2 sensors are fine, they aRe new, I'll check my map. And
cel???? What's that?
No codes on her.
And thermostat change from the stock to180 then back to
stock. But that was like 2-3 months ago.
