1990 dakota was stalling/ missing/ backfiring/ would cut off
at every stop unless I kept my foot on the gas a little ....I
changed everything around the TB except the Tb itself ... still
nothing ... changed the sparks/ wires/ dis. / cleaned the TB
.... still stalling.... I read on another forum the guy was saying
that a bad battery would cause your truck to stall unless you
keep your foot on the gas....... so I go get the battery tested
and sure enough battery was bad .... dropped down to 8-9
volts ..... got a new battery and now everything is back to
normal ...knock on wood .... weird that a bad battery would
cause this ... my other car had a bad battery and still ran
strong ... it just wouldn't start after u cut it off ..... maybe
some sensors are ran off the battery ... oh well feels good to
have my truck back and hope I can help out someone

sometime that can be the altenator if it not strong enough to power the battery back up it goes bad faster. try turnin your truck on let it idle then pop the hood and remove your positive wire. if it dies or sutters ya got a bad altenator. iv had to pretty much chase my tail with the wiring in mine 93 since my battery monitor don't work on my instrument cluster. i have an audio system set up in my truck so i know for sure that the wiring is pretty solid in a dak jus see if your alt. if it is there your answer. if not guess it was just your battery.

now i have a question. alright my trucks a 93 dodge dakota sport. it has the 256 3.9 liter magnum have no clue what the tranny or the rear end is. i would like to know since here soon im gonna put an aluminum block in and takin all the cast iron weight off. i know the three nine has good enough power for me but i want to have a positrac and a higher trans. but i wanna know how high i can get the gear ratio and if a positrac would fit on my leafs and axle. anyone got some advice?
