I just bought an 88 dakota and the wiring under the dash is all
shade tree mechanic spliced and stuff. Got it running and
pulled it onto the road and it dies and would not restart. I
played with the ignition wiring and supplied power to the
blue wire and it ran for about 2 min then the wire sparked
and the truck died. I want to hook up a toggle/relays for a
new switch but what needs power from this switch? Can I just
run power to the comp? What do I need to do. Its very
important I get this up soon and I don't care about
accessories I just need it to run till I can replace the factory
harness in a month or so

What! Are you out of your mind buying something in that condition?

You better get a fire extingisher cause she might go up in flames.

atrus96, get a repair manual and yes you can do what you are talking about, I have done it beore in the past on a chevy pick up. People think you are nuts for doing something like that but in my case I got the chevy cheap and after I worked on it for a few days, I had it running and drove it for 3 years before I sold it. Oh yeah, I put a 75 Caddy 500 cubic inch engine and turbo 400 trans in the chevy, it made for a very strong running pick up. It also got 16 miles per gallon on hiway. Not sure what my in city mileage was though.
Good Luck
