Subject: '94 Transmission Fluid?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a '94 dakota 4x4 with a 3.9. I was walking to my truck and noticed what looked to be like oil or sumthing down the drivers' side. As i was driving to the store the transmission was acting up, missing gears, revving up, ect. so when i got home i went to check the fluid level and pretty much all over under the hood was covered with transmission fluid. It seems like it was concentrated more on the front drivers' side corner. it was all over the bottom side of the truck and on the inside of the tires. any idea where this is coming from? The fluid level was also low, so i added to it and havent drove it since. any ideas?

They connect to the trans oil cooler that it is built into the bottom tank on the radiator.

Yes. There are transmission fluid lines that run from the transmission oil cooler, as stated above. It's embedded inside the tanks of your radiator. Metal lines run most of the way, then special oil-resistant rubber hoses run the last few inches and are clamped to fittings on the radiator. Check to see if they're clamped tight, and if the hoses are in good shape.

Hey don't drive the truck untill the leak is fixed.
Hopefully you haven't damaged the transmission yet,
But if you keep driving it you will. Get a friend or
relative with some mechanical know how for help.

thanks alot for all the input. it was a piece of plastic connecting the line to the radiator, i guess they didnt put it on tight enough and it broke--wish i wouldve known a little bit more about this stuff before hand. ive driven the truck about 100 miles since then and it's shifting fine and catching all the gears so i think im good to go. thanks for the help everyone.
