i have a 2006 crew cab slt 4x4 with a 3.7liter. im looking at a camper trailer that weighs close to 4000lbs. with it full loaded i figured around 5000lbs. if i put a tranny cooler and air bags in the rear would i have any problems pulling it?

Depends how far you need to go with it and how fast you need , or want to go .
Also how much hilly roads .

The trailer alone is 100 lbs above your trucks capacity. With your extra gear and everything else, I would say NO! You are way past what your truck is capable of. There are more considerations than a trans cooler and rear spring rates. If you want to tow something that big, you need a V8.

i once saw a v6 dakota pulling a 5th wheel camper

1990 sport RC SB, 1995 318drivetrain, 3.92 gears (came with truck) Powertrax "traction system", 95 dash/steering wheel, hearthrob exhaust, headers, cutout after y-pipe, necessary electric fan add-a-leafs, 30x9.5 mud tires, cranked T-bars, AR 39 15x8 rims, grill guard, roll bars

Depending what kind of terrain your expectinmg to pull it over. But pulling is not the only thing, you will eventually need to stop.
