K well a few things about that:" v8 4x4" what kinda milage are
you getting and expect? My sister has a 5.9 4x4 ram on 35's
12" lift and gets 9.5 avg mpgs..

But for everyone else... I have a '98 Dakota 2wd 3.9l Auto
with airaid cai, msd 8.5 super conductor wires, accel cap and
rotor, those autolite plugs you all talk about, superchips tuned
to perf, flowmaster, 5.9l tb with airaid tb spacer(it was free so
I put it on), 180° t-stat, fitch fuel catalyst, run 91 octane, and
am getting "15.8mpgs avg!!" can someone please help me! I
don't floor it ever, and drive slower then my grandma to try to
get +mpgs. Also don't tow or haul anything. Noticed lately
that the idle seems to be inconsistant/ rough and don't know
where to start. #22 injectors? Change both o2sensors?(which
ones are best btw?) Change my cat? Underdrive pulleys? I
just know that somethings gotta be wrong my v8 friends are
getting better mpg then me! All the advise I can get would
help alot!!

I was hoping for 20 mpg on avg. It's very rare that I have anything in the bed and I am pretty easy when accelerating. Right now I'm only getting 14-15 mpg.

My advice is to look at the bright side. You're getting the same as my v6 2wd Dakota

First things first. Check for any codes. Make sure all your ignition components are up to date. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Then tire size, proper inflation and proper alignment.

My '00QC, 4x2, 3.9, 5spd, w/ 3.55 gears and 235/75/15 tires gets 23 hwy and 18 city. 125k miles original O2 sensors, CPS mod, V8 TB and underdrive crank pulley.

Also, when I bought the truck it had 31 x 10.5 inch tires on it, not the standard 215/75/15's. Are these helping or hurting my fuel economy? I would think they weigh a little bit more hurting me a little bit but once I'm up to highway speed they are effectively killing my gear ratio being about 11% oversized which should help my mpg right? Thanks for the imput!

Not only is that tire taller but also much wider which will cause more rolling resistance. This is probably what's killing your city mpg more than hwy. I went from the 215/75/15 to 235/75/15 which the change in mpg was negligible.

If all was right with your truck, I see no reason why you couldn't get 20mpg hwy maybe 17 city. Is your truck an Reg.Cab or ClubCab?

I ran my trouble codes, nothing came up, but it still doesn't
seem right, I used to get 19 mpg avg. My ign wires cap and
rotor were all replaced about a year ago. Run my tires 5 psi
over and alined it last summer. My abs and brake lights both
come on when I hit 60 though- replaced the rear wheel speed
sensor still does it, idk if that could have anything to do with
it.

On ignition parts, it doesn't matter too much on their age, it's miles driven that counts.
