 Subject: another tranny problem

i have a 97 dak and the trans has started acting up when you take off from a stop and often while shift the whole truck shakes and slips in 1st to 2nd but the truck shifts real quikly out of 2nd into 3rd sometimes even skipping 2nd all to together ive done a flush and filter change atf4 and the tv cable is adjusted and all connections are good and no cel i took it to a tranny guy and he said is would need a total rebuild 1175 dollars that it was wore out any ideas would any bad sensors burn a tranny up like this with no cel? or is it time for a rebuild? thanks
