Hello, I'm replacing the engine in my 89 Dakota. Will it run fine if I plug the exhaust recirc holes and leave the air pump off? Thanks....

Sure can. I pulled mine off a few months ago. Engine has a nice change in throttle response too. I welded the inlet holes on the headers shut after I removed the tabs from the tubes, and also capped all vacuum lines. Remember as well that a line feeds to the Cat. That needs to be capped as well

I did it on my 88 Dak 3.9

I did this on my 84 Camaro. The only problem I have is the check engine light won't go out. I cannot do this on my Dakota because of RI emission laws.
