What's the PCM splice about? I just read about it on another post. I have a 1998 Dakota V6, does this apply?

Perhaps - certainly in the early 1990s. There is a factory splice of power wires to the relay box and computer that was very poorly terminated. For some of us, the computer, starter relay or ASD relay would without warning or intermittently lose power, resulting in crank with no start, no cranking, or stalling.

Look at the "T-junction" of bundled wires near the windshield washer jug. You have to cut away the outer sleeving to get at the splice. Clean and solder the connections securely, then wrap them in friction tape (works better than electrical tape in cold weather and oil exposure).

Sometimes the catcon clogs and the heat backs up and cooks the EGR. You might have a clogged catcon.
