7158 You're going to have to lift that hood and narrow that noise down. There is no way we could even guess without seeing and hearing it ourselves.

7158, you forgot a couple, the power steering pump, the idler and the tensioner. Now that we've named them all, the easiest to eliminate would be the A/C. With the truck running, turn the A/C off. If the noise goes away when the A/C is off, there is your problem.

Now, to check the others will take a little more effort. You will have to open the hood.

Now, start the engine and listen to try to verify where the noise is coming from. Try revving the engine a couple of times. Try this with no accessories on, then try it with the A/C on Max, lights on, radio on. If you hear the whine with all the accessories on, it could be the altenator. or it could be just loose or dirty battery connections.

Try turning the wheel full left then full right with the engine running if the noise gets worse, check the power steering fluid level. It may be low. If it's not low it could be the power steering pump is starting to go.

With the engine not running, you may want to remove the belt and try spinning the idler, tensioner and altenator to make sure then spin smoothly. If either feels a little rough that could also be the problem.

Perform these tests and post back.

Unless you live near me, then you could drive over and I'd give you a hand locating that whine.
