Subject: How many O2 sensors?

I have a 2003 QC that is suffering gas mileage wise. How many oxygen sensors are there? I have found one just before and after the cat. When i looked online it asked for left or right pre cat sensor.

Did you see any precats while you were under the truck? If you have just one catcon you only have two sensors. The one before the catcon is what the PCM uses to help determine the fuel mixture.

What codes are you getting? That would tell you exactly what O2 sensor is bad? Your never stated what engine you have. I'm only assuming you have a 3.9 because you're posting in the V6 forum.

single cat w/ 3.9L. I might have thrown a code but i cant remember if i cleared it a couple months ago. I have a superchips tuner. Will I only need to replace the precat sensor?

If 1 is worn
what makes you think the other isnt?

Less use on the other?
RE-routed the exhaust around it?

Mine has 6!!!! 2001 quad cab 3.9V6 one pre and 1 post on each cat on each header and 1 pre and 1 post on the central cat under the mid section of truck. Thats right 6 o2 sensors and 3 cats--not sure if it was a California truck or what but it seems awful absurd. I just had to replace the 3 cats and it was over a grand!!!
