my dakota has a 12v cigarette lighter in it. next to it is a blank hole for another one but it has a cover on it. when you pull the cover their are wires that run to the back of the cover but they have NO power supply. what do i have to do to get power to them so i can hardwire my radar detector into them without running all new wires??

One should be ground and the other 12vdc. Those are for the Aux. 12vdc plug. What year is your truck? My '00 Sport QC has that 12vdc Aux. connected.

Do you want it HOT all the time? That's how mine is from the factory.

Or do you want it switched with the ignition?

If i was wiring one in it would be hot all the time. Just grab 12vdc+ at the PDC underhood, use an inline fuse to go inside the cab and ground the other side and you're done.
