Got couple questions.

I have a 2002 3.9L(i'm pretty sure)manual RWD SXT.
First of all what's the SXT mean?
Also. I'm trying to make this baby loud. I just put in a cool air filter..just the filter and thats putting out a nice pur at high RPMs, but now i'm looking for something else.

I hear alot about headers? What are they and will it make my truck louder..now i'm just looking for noise not really performance tho i'm sure some of the noise maker upgrades will put out performance.

Is a "cut out" a good option? I'm not looking to spend the money on a whole straight line exhaust kit...

I've also heard things about a "manifold"?
And what about just putting on a muffler on the back of it?
Obviously i'm a noob when it comes to this stuff...so basically what can I do for some easy cheap noise?

well man i dont think you will ever get a 3.9 to sound anything more like a fart in a can.Yet a good set of headers will allow your engine to breathe better, and should increase the efficiency of the engine.if your just looking to annoy your neighbors i would suggest buying cheap. throw performance out the window, your fuel milealge, but dont forget durability. You do realize the engine is controlled by a brain that wont understand what you did to it to make it louder. So you prolly got two choices make it loud cheaply, or spend alot of money to build an engine that has a bite to go with its bark

when you compare the price of the 3.9 headers
to the power gain
it is not worth it

If you want noise cheap. Just remove the muffler and run straight pipe in it's place. It will get you what you want, CHEAP and annoyingly LOUD.

Good Luck with the neighbors.
