Eric, I recently swapped my v6 to a v8 in a 95 dakota. I had my tranny rebuilt about a year ago, and then again about 2 months ago with the six. I'm not looking forward to see what hapens next time (with 150 more hp.) I have a feeling that you have a heavy foot so I would strongly suggest a bigger transmission.

hmm... well, depending on what year your dak is from, i would say yes. if you have an automatic transmission, they definitely yes. if you have a pre-2001 Dak, with a 5 speed, then definitely yes. and if memory serves, if you have a 2001 or 2002 5-speed, its the same tranny that came in the V8 (although i'm not totally sure on that one).
just keep in mind that the 5-speed that comes in the Dak is the AX-15, that's supposedly "heavy duty" compared with the AX-15 that comes with the I-4. so to answer your question, yes.
