Subject: '05 Dakota tranny problem
IP: Logged

Message:
The tranny on my '05 Dakota would shudder when reaching 35 mph while slowly accelerating. At first I thought it may be a driveshaft related problem until the tranny started slipping on an incline and smoking. At the top of the hill I shut off the engine and checked the tranny fluid and it smelled burnt. The tranny will no longer catch on Reverse and it drives in Neutral. There is no Neutral. Park works however, every other shift is drive. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

BTW, this Dakota has a 3.7L engine if that means anything. Thanks again.

The 05 trans is all computer controled either
you had a bad conection or the TCM trans control
modual section in the comp went bad

Another cause could be in the sensors and sols in
the trans

what ever it was the trans in now shot if the
case was not damaged it can be rebuilt also
replace all electrical componants during rebuild

I cant remember the nuber think 45rfe trns
how nice it was for dalmar to stop using the
mopar engines and trans

but as a rule they are a good trans I would talk
with a dealer or call detroit directly they may
replace it for you if you have low miles on the
truck

Now chrysler has filed bankrupcy and have
partenerd with fiat what will the next generation
dodge trucks be like I just wonder
