 Subject: ran out of gas, now wont start?

Hey all, 91 V6 Dakota, I thought I ran out of gas, so i put some in and it started and drove for a few blocks then died. I then put more gas, replaced the fuel filter and the distributor cap and rotor and it started up for about a minute and died. I took off one of the spark plugs off and check to see if it was getting spark and nothing. any ideas?

check the under hood wire splice

That splice is under the underhood fuse/relay box
about 6 to 8 inches down the harness = unwrap the
tape to find it - redo it..
Check ground (chassis) connections and
inline connectors on the battery cables.
If it still acts up , try another coil
[ they sometimes short out under the high voltage ]

the wires your looking for are 3 to 4 red/white wires solder/spliced together
the solder/splice breaks or gets all Gunked up

Another thought
You just might have sucked all the junk up from the bottom of the tank and clogged the filter right up
for possible verification
check the fuel pressure at the rail
