It would be the 'front' one that you need to worry about ( just in front of the cat ).
The other [ behind the cat ] only checks on the cat = not an issue unless it throws a code..

a haynes or chilton repair manual may have a procedure to test the O2 sensor. i know the haynes for my son's saturn and the one for my wife's mazda have procedures for testing them with a DVOM.

What leads you to think an O2 sensor is bad? Do you have a fault code for one?

I was told that when the o2 sensor is just starting to go bad it may not though a code. The truck is idling rough and stalling when you try to start it aftger it has warmed up.

Way too many other causes to focus on that first. Are there ayn codes stored? Could be just a tuneup needed; a vacuum leak; a bad AIS motor; a bad TPS; bad air intake temp sensor.
