I haven't got around to picking up a Haynes manual yet for my new used Dakota 1999 V6 4x4 with air.
However I see that the serpentine belt is looking cracked and aged. On first glance I do not see which pulley is going to allow me to do the adjustments when I go to remove and replace belt.
I did it many times on my Cherokee. What bolts give me the adjustment to do this. Alternator ? Idler? ??
thanks?

There is no actual adjustment for the belt. IF you look on the left side of the engine (facing the truck), right under the alternator there is a spring loaded tensioner pulley. This keeps the belt tight. To change the belt, use a large screwdriver to move the pulley, and then take the belt off. You will have to wiggle it around the fan. Then just follow the belt routing on the little sticker under the hood to install the new one.
Its about a 10-minute job unless your trying to do it in the rain (like I had to a month ago!)

I have a easier and safer way to swing the tensioner out of the way, use a socket and breaker bar on the bolt that holds the pully on the tensioner,(not the tensioner to the block) just a little goes a long way, and much less chance of getting hurt if the screwdriver slips. Had my local Mopar mechanic show me that one.
