Subject: Code 27 Again

Message:
I'm getting Code 27 which is the Injector not receiving the proper signal. Had it before and believe it has to be a short since I changed the injector that was having the problem and now a new injector is not receiving the proper signal. The truck runs fine then there is a slight shutter or burp and the light comes on, then the truck seems to drive okay. I can't seem to find the problem any suggestions? Like a specific area to look for in the wiring. Before when I had it I would reset the computer and it would be fine for a while then come back. So I've been living with this problem for a while.

I've had that code for a while. Did exactly what you're saying. Then it just stayed on and ran rough. I put in all new inj and ohm'd out all the wiring, it was all good. Took it to Dodge, they told me the timing chain is worn out and the dist drive bushing is out of spec. The engine timing is so bad it's throwing off the computer, causing a code 27. So, I think now with 223,000 miles on it I'm going to rebuild it. My 2 cents.

check the wires

1 side is ASD volts on with key same as batt volts

2nd side is the driver wire to computer

All asd should have the same volts and no
resistance in driver wire from injector to comp

Dont rule out the injector take a ohm reading and
all injectors should be the same I have gotten new
injectors that were bad

Make sure the connection between the ignition harness and the injector is snug - if it isn't throw a zip tie around it and also check for clean terminals, free of corrosion. Both of these can lead to an erratic "miss" and thus giving you the code 27. I actually just recently had this problem... zip ties are quite a wonderful creation.

Hope that helps!

Can't find a short so far so I've ordered another injector from fiveomotorsports. I replaced #6 a few months ago and now #1 is acting up so lets see if that's it. My code 27 was on #6 and sometimes #1 back when I changed the injector now it only indicates #1. Hard to believe two bad injectors in about 3-4 years from when I put them in.
