if your motor isn't Carb or TBI
that Throttle Body Spacer was nothing but a waste of money

why did you buy the headers if you don't think it's worth it? i'm sure the headers will be worth something. especially if you change out the y-pipe, install a hi flow cat and hi flow muffler.

so what direction should i go in on getting more HP'S out of my v6? what is the IAT MOD, and the crank sensor mod? and i take it the space is a better paper weight!

the spacer is basically a paperweight because of the design of the intake manifold. do the headers(probably about 5hp) then add some 1.7:1 rockers(about 15hp). Harlan Sharp Roller rockers are good bang for the buck. the jury is still out on the viper v10 rockers. some say they are 1.7:1 some say they are only 1.6:1.

I just installed a set on my 01 Dakota. My reasoning was primarily due to a broken exhaust stud and a cracked manifold. At the same time, I installed a V-8 throttle body, and an open element air filter. Am I happy? Very much so! It was a lot of work, but well worth it in my opinion. The only other thing I did was an adjustment to the tv cable.

2688, the IAT mod was not so much a gain on my '00 QC 5spd. the mileage drop wasn't worht it to me. the CPS mod is very easy to do especially on a 5spd. the CPS is on the back of the engine just below the passenger side head. just disconnect the electrical connector, it's up by the distributor, then loosen the 2 bolts that hold it in place and remove it. you want to lengthen the mounting holes so you can move the sensor more towards the passenger side of the engine. there were some pictures on here a while back. the just reinstall it.

you wont notice much with the headers if you only bolt them to a factory y-pipe. the factory y is smaller than 2" diameter. when i had the v6 in my truck, i had a 2.25" y built and felt a big difference.

1.7 roller rockers were one of the best mods i did to mine. also look at getting msd ignition components. i had a msd 6a box, 8.5 wires and a blaster 3 coil. it was the second single most fuel effiecent mod i did besides the tonno cover. in it's prime, my V6 was running about 27 mpg highway and 20 city.

Most likely Summit, for the rockers. Very nice start. I would suggest getting your intake worked as well. You will notice some with just the bigger TB, but with just a stock intake, I didn't notice much until I had my intake done. Kinda like a restrictor plate, doesn't let enough air in to do it's job at it's full capacity. Once you open the intake, TB and adding rockers, you will notice the headers. As for the IAT, CPS mods, myself personally, I went back to stock. Didn't do much for me, except eat some gas. I think a cam could do much more than those two mods. Just my opinion, I wish I would of started mine a little different. Wasted time at some points, but I'm slowly getting her there.

Good Luck, with your truck.

i had put crower 1.7 rockers on my V6 when i had it in the genIII. they were less expensive at the time. i used crane high intensity ford 302 rockers for my 318 in my genIII. had to buy the rockers and the stud/guide conversion kit. almost half the price as the crowers and other brands

2688, do a search on the Harlan-Sharp headers. I did them on mine some time back, and they made a world of difference for my truck. I posted my experience - should help you when you get ready to do it. Good luck with it.

2688,

With all the mods Larry has done to his truck, he is now getting as much hp to the rear wheels as a stock 318 puts out at the crank, thats with all the bolt'ed on items, head porting, port matching the intake manifold, 48mm F&B, complete MSD system, JBA headers, dual exhaust, high stall torque convertor and others I can't remember.

If you get the Harland Sharp rockers, get them directly from the Harland Sharp website, you'll save $30 bucks.
