01 dakota sputtered and quit. it turns over good, has spark and gas no trouble code in dash. but wont start please help.

Pick-up sensor for Spark is installed in flywheel housing , just down from distributor .
Sensor in dist is used to time the Fuel injection.
Are you sure that it is getting gas ?

If it is not on the lower side of block near the front , then yes , it is in the tank .
Follow the fuel line down from 'injector'
on carb ( at least I would call it a carb ) on these older trucks.

by 1988 all the dak's came with throttle body injection with a fuel pump in the tank, it should have around 15 pounds of pressure at idle and 22 at full throttle.
88 up no carb.

Check your base timing
#1 front drivers side

Remove fuel pump relay
crank over with induction timing light should be
at 10 degree's befor top dead center

If not
crank sensor
or
jumped timing chain

the timing will vary between 9 to 11 is normal
