I have a 2001 V6 dakota. I let a friend borrow my truck and he apparently disconnected two black wires near the e-brake. There was several connection points and I didn't know where it went. The car started fine, but my radio didn't work so I figured I'd fix it later. After about five starts the engine wouldn't start. No turning or clicking to the starter, nothing. The two black wires are still disconnected. I got it jumped by a friend and it started fine but my engine would stall at idle RPM. I was able to drive it home by keeping the RPM above idle. I've since bought the repair manuel and it isn't helping much. I found a fuse blown in the Power distribution center. It was labeled 40 AMP INT LMP. I have no idea what that is. The battery is showing a charge of 12.5 V. All fuses look fine in the Fuse box. Any ideas?

I can't help you much. My son's dakota is an 87. However, any 40 amp fuse has to be important. I can't imagine it just powering some lamp (LMP). I'm guessing that since you say these wires are near the e-brake, that the loose wires are down under the dash near your left foot? You probably can't trace them very far then can you.
Can you see any scrape marks on one or two of the possible connection points? Maybe that would help.
Did your friend disconnect them accidentally and not even know it or was there a reason to disconnect them?

40 amps usually on large electronics
electric fans and blowers
electric pumps,,, to name a few

This sounds to me like there is some aftermarket alarm, trailer brake or something else wired in under the dash. There has to be some kind of problem with the wiring for it to pop a 40 amp maxi fuse like that. A lot of times installers will go to and tap into the ignition wiring harness for power. I would say start by removing the knee bolster panel and taking a real good look at the 2 mysterious black wires. I'd be willing to bet they will lead you to your problem. Sounds like somebody tapped the ignition harness and a butt connector or similar connection came loose and now the truck is not charging properly, so it wont idle right. The "int lmp" maxi fuse provides power to the interior lamps, hazards, radio memory circuit, probably the horn and lighter circuits too I bet. I bet someone tapped the continuous B+ wire at the steering column or close by. Dodge doesn't use very many black wires for power circuits at all. Black almost always is only for ground.
Take it apart and let us know what you find.
