Subject: Phantom "Door Ajar" Light...

Here's my problem:

About a year ago, my "Door Ajar" light would start to come on when I took a hard left turn, even though all my doors were securely closed. At first, it was only once in a while, then it became more often. This continued to happen, then it would start to happen when I merely had the windows down, as if the air pressure would cause the door to open slightly, but again my doors are all securely closed. Now, it happens all the time, doors closed, windows up, driving straight down the road. It will even happen when my truck is just sitting in the driveway. I notice that sometimes when it happens, I can open and close the drivers door and the light will go off for a while. The most annoying part about is that I have an alarm system that automatically sets itself when it senses all doors are closed. Since the "door ajar" light is tripped randomly for no reason, my alarm will go off in the middle of the night when my truck is just sitting there. Anyone else have this problem?? I can't seem to find a trigger on any of the doors or door jambs that would send a "door ajar" signal...

Please help!

Thanks

common on mopars when the door switch is set too far in and you make turns the weight comes off the switch just enough to make contact and turn the light on. common with the self-adjusting switches. do you have a switch in the center of the door opening on the hinge side? and is there a black switch under the latch loop on the body side of the door latch?

So... I looked everywhere I could think of on the door and the frame, and I cant find a "switch" of any kind anywhere. I looked near the hinge and the latch loop, and there's no mechanical switch anywhere. There does appear to be some plastic pads on both the front and the rear doors... magnetic sensors maybe? Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place, but I looked on every piece of possible metal that would make contact when the door is opened or closed, and there's no switch.

Seems like I remember someone telling me there wasn't switches in these doors...

I dunno. Seems more complicated than it needs to be.

the switches are black plastic round about the size of a dime. what year is the truck? lets start there. later trucks have the door ajar switch as part of the door latch and maybe a door latch adjustment will fix it
