Subject: Stalling Problem?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a stalling problem with my 92 V6 dakota. I changed all tune up parts. The only other things that I need to replace is the CPS sensor and coil. When I'm driving the car will just shut off. The power for the light and stereo are still working during the stall. I would pull over and and restart the truck with no problem. One person told me I needed to change the pick-up. I did that and it still stalls. It is very intermitted. Some days it will run great and some days it will stall a couple of time. Can anyone help me with this problem? I hate to drive my truck because of the stalling.

Had the same problem on an 89 Dakota, to make a long story short, one of the wires on the fuel pump, (in the tank) had deteriorated from the constant exposure to fuel, and was losing it's connection intermittently. If you decide to check this, my advice is to run the truck until the tank is almost empty before you drop it. Gasoline weighs something like 6 or 8 LBS per gallon so the less fuel, the better. Good luck with curing the problem, there is nothing worse than an intermittent failure.

Thanks for the info. I really didn't take notice of the wires. I just changed the fuel level sending unit. i should of just changed the fuel pump at that time. Now aI have to drop the tank again.
