i have a 1993 dodge dakota 4x4 with 246,000 thousand miles on it...i went to start it last night and all it did was click...its a 5-speed so i pushed it and pop-started and it ran perfectly...today i replaced the battery terminals, pulled the starter and had it checked it was good, i put in a new battery and still just a click when i tried to start it but it will pop-start everytime...please help...

could be your clutch switch, if it quits working it may do the same thing. (just a guess) Have you tried to use a screw driver and jump the starter direct? You could have a broken wire some place between the switch and the starter. With a new battery, and a good starter its got to be something in between.

Check your battery cables, both positive and ground, make sure they are tight on both ends.

thanks...now its to the point that it will start sometimes but very rarely...im not working tomorrow some im goig to mess with it and try to find the problem...also my transmission is starting to go out and i was wondering if any one knows what kind of price range i might be looking at??? its a 5-speed
