I have a 98 dakota V6 magnum 3.9L that i bought in 05 with
98000 miles. I have put 100000 miles since with 80% of the
time on the road towing 3500 lbs to 6000lbs. Tows fine but
slow on step incline s and trailor brakes a must. It i a five
speed with original clutch. Strong V6 would not want any other
that size.

I have a 2000 dodge Dakota 3.9l v6 with a 4" body lift, 2" suspension lift, 35" tires, cold air intake, magna flow exhaust, and performance chipped. I pulled a 20' tandem axel trailer with a 98 dodge 2500 diesel that had a blown turbo, with a skidoo all on the trailer and a 250cc dirt bike in the back of my Dakota. it pulled just fine with its 5 spd manual in 2 high at hwy speeds. if people think that there 3.9l v6 Dakota can't pull what they want, then don't pull it. specially if its an auto. but if you know what your doing, and how to do it, you can pull almost anything. just keep in mind that if you get in an accident over loaded, your insurance won't cover it. Dakotas are 1/2 ton rated vehicles from factory. but as everyone should know, vehicles are always under rated for safety reasons because of idiots that don't know how to drive with heavy loads.
