Subject: Intermittant Battery Gauge Problem
IP: Logged

Message:
Hi guys. I noticed a couple times that my Check Gauges light would come on,and the battery gauge needle had gone all the way up to the 18 mark. If I turn off the engine and restart it,it clears. Any idea what this could be?
I noticed the battery terminals are a little fuzzy where they clamp to the battery,so I am going to give them a damn good clean today, although I guess there is no way to tell if that will help until the effect happens again.

My truck is a 2000 Dakota CC with the 3.9L v6 Magnum engine

thanks

Forgot to add that also while that Check Gauges light is on,the headlights, interior lights and dash lights all flicker slightly, but enough to be annoying. Thanks to anyone who can offer any advice on that.

Floating ground (bad negative connection, e.g., at battery) can cause this.

I noticed that the battery terminal connections were not exactly clean, the +ve had a bit of fuzzy build up,-ve wasnt as dirty,so I took them off and gave them a damn good clean with sandpaper so the connections were shinier. Not sure if that will do the trick as far as this problem goes though.

first clean those batt termanals

check and clean all grounds under hood but it
sounds like the G2 ground on dash board

remove pass side kick panel down by your
feet

remove bolt holding dash to side of body run
some sand paper between dash and body and
reinstall bolt and kick panel

The famous G2 ground on the gen 3 trucks always
a head scrather
