Also got a new NGK O2 Sensor to install. Don't know how old the one on truck is, for $45 might as well change it. $130.00 from the dealer.

The best approach take your TIME and label everything your remove to restore its original location and be sure properly torque everything to specs dont take any short cuts that could lead you to trouble later and have to do a rework job that could cost more than what you started with. With a 165,000 miles be expected to find more or difficuties as you get into it example snap a bolt trying to loosen alot possiblities, not sure leave the job to the expereinced mechanic.

The best approach is to buy a repair manual. I don't think I have ever owned a vehicle without buying one.

just don't over torque the intake bolts
12 foot pounds

I go 4 than 8 than 12 and than check them all a
few times reinstaling the intake takes longer
than anything else

Intake Gasket Help
IP: Logged

Message:
OK..Going to start today

Do I need to use any Gasket Sealers?

I got conflicting instructions.

One says use Black HighTemp on the 4 Corners only.

Other says don't use the Cork End gaskets and just use 1/4 bead Black High Temp.

As always, I'll find the Real Answer here.

Well did you get it done ? And what led you to this repair ? with getting 17.8 mpg tools and a cap not bad w/ 165,000 miles on er.. JJ is right in torque specs dont want full torque tighten the bolts do it as he states otherwise.... I ask about the repair its not uncommon to have a film of oil down the plenum to begin with, excessive oil or a pool of oil than I can see fixing just wouldn't like to see you waste any money than needed for something better for your truck but this is your choice dont let me decesion maker just some advise. The rule motto " If aint broke don't dix it!!". Good Luck
