Subject: truck has hard time cranking over

I have a 96 dakota 2wd V6 and the truck will run fine but when I go to start it wants to stall out. If I gently push the pedal a few times to get the rpms up around 800(just about were the engine idles) it will eventually stay running with no problem. The fuel pump is turning on normally. The alternator was tested and is fine and I put in a new battery anyways. I changes the pcv valve and did the whole seafoam procedure as well. I'm just lost since the truck will run great once I get it to stay idling. Maybe plugs, wires, distributor cap? Thx

My truck does the same thing, I have to step on the accelerator to keep it alive. This happens only when I first start it in the morning. It happens every year in the Spring. This Spring it happened BEFORE I replaced the fuel pump and AFTER. These days it is starting fine, it's warming up a little here in Spokane,WA. I remember a mechanic telling me once about "vapor lock", but I'm still not sure if that applies to my truck.
