I have the 3.9L V6 with an automatic transmission and my owners manual was stolen from my truck(how pointless right?) Either way, I hear you guys talking about over drive often, and I know what it is, but not how to activate it. How do I turn on over drive? Besides being at speeds under about 40mph, does it engage itself? or do I need to shift into it?

Thanks, I've been quite curious about how to turn it on, but can't seem to find how to use it online.

dak01auto, there should be a button either on the end of the turn signal lever, or dash. it should go into overdrive by its self, unless you turn it off, then when you shut the engine off then restart if you don't want it to go into over drive again you need to turn off the OD.
Other wise it is ready to go into O.D. One exception to this is the weather, if its real cold, or in the 30's I think it won't shift into high gear until it gets warmed up.
Good Luck

Depends on the year. On my 92 it's on the dash near the headlight switch. And yes, it engages automatically unless turned off, and it won't engage if coolant temperature is under 60F.

daddio, thanks for the information, I was thinking the end of the turn signal for some reason, mine is a five speed so I have ful control when it goes into over drive.
I was thinking there were a few that it was on the dash though, Thanks Mr. Lincoln.

If it's not going in, it may be unplugged or damaged or wires damaged... or just may need fluid and filter service.
Or yes, a temp sensor.
