took me 8 1/2 hours to install the 1502 cam that
with looking for my new themo gasket for almost
a half hour also put new heater hoses on while it
was apart and you can get to the top one

with cloyes true dobble roller chain & sprokets
factory tensioner
1.7 harland sharp roller rockers
new sealed power fed mog lifters
mopar performance 9.625 push rods stock are 6.905

only had time to drive it about 50 miles today
runs excellent more power everywhere over the
stock cam with the 1.7's

Fedral Mogal says they are going to make more cams
but could not give me a date when its a great
cam

With the degree wheel it came out to 198/208 .455
real nice above 1600rpm and the computer did not
even learn the new flow yet will get some more
miles during the next week initial resalts are
fantastic

almost the same as the hughes engines 196/204 .500
but no spring change nesasary $$$ saved and a
nice performance increase

larry-
thanks for the info, hopefully federal mogul makes more of these cams. if they do i've got some questions for you.
first, will this cam work with any year 3.9 magnum? mine is an 01 3.9 and it's pretty beefed up so far..
hughes stage one intake
CAI, V8 TB, dynomax 3" superturbo catback, and a few minor ignition mods.
second, i plan on doing the 1.7 h/s rockers sometime soon, will this cam work with the 1.7's?
also, i know my way around a motor but i dont really want to tackle a cam swap. how much do you think a good performance shop would charge considering you dont have to change springs? There is a place called CRT perforamnce 2 blocks from my house, they do alot of work with 4.6 and 5.0 mustangs and I have talked to them about a cam swap in my 3.9. but all i could get out of them is that they would do it no info on price.
Im hoping with a cam swap and a 4.10 gear/LSD swap in the 8.25 rear will get me into the 15 second range, so far the truck runs high 16's basically stock. but it will give my buddy's 4.7 dak trouble.

thanks

This cam will fit any 3.9 92 to 03

I ran it upto 4000rpm today watching my air/fuel
meter man it needs to add some fuel above 2000rpm
little more flow there

have only 140 miles on it now starting to get
better

This motor also has all the mods 48mm F&B with
the same as the hughes stage 1 but I did the intake myself JBA headers pacsetter dual and
a high flow cat

I am running the 1.7's with the cam nice lope
at idle

The farther you are from the stock flow the
farther you are from the stock computer tables
the longer it takes for the computer to learn
and adjust the a/f ratio

stock 50 miles short term 200 full learn on the
modded motors they first begain to run deceiant
around 200 miles and by 500 they run great so
it will take me a month or 2 to get that than
I will dyno it

checked the mileage on monday also got 21mpg
on a relearn thats real good especialy in the
colder weather up here should go up 1 or 2
from where its at I was getting 24 25mpg last
summer 95 4x4 124,000 miles on motor lower
end has never been apart on this one

labor would depend on the shops rate if pulling
the heads for spring change add anothe 2 to 4
hours to my 8 if you find a mech that is familure
with the V6 its an easy job the most critical
thing is dist gear location just put on TDC
comp stroke mark dist and rotor location and
get it back the same TDC the chain marks are
12 and 12 oclock crank key is also TDC mark
cam key oposite crank both around 30 degrees
/ crank key \ cam key like that from front

just use a mgic marker and than set injector sync
when all is lined up

Will put another 100 on next week I don;t drive
much these days with the gas price

mileage seams same as stock 21 in 30 degree
weather as far as I am from the stock tables
it will now begain to tune in around 500 it

Just over 1000 miles now

Took a 200 mile trip on a rainy 50 degree day 1/4
of the trip with cruse set on 70mph free way and
the truck pulled 22.5mpg

It has more power everywhere over the stock cam
dynoed at 198 stock cam with this cam was 215
max hp at 4600rpm

so over stock only 17hp but that is not to shaby
for a cam and lifter kit for around $250

Fedral Mogal said they would be making more cams
because it is an active number

You would have to call them to find out if they
re poped them yet I don't have the number here
at home but you can call summitracing at
1-800-230-3030 push the number for customer
service and they will give you the fed mogal
number to find out it is a great cam with
no expensive spring change or pulling the heads
to do it

Now in a motor less moded than mine this cam with
the 1.7 harland sharpe rocker arms I would say
a 25 to 30 hp gain stock cam with 1.7's will
give you a 15 to 18 hp gain I got 17hp over stock
cam with 1.7's

with all the gaskits and chain cloyes double
roller at $54 another $50 for gaskets from
summit the whole deal without labor just over
$350 actualy I think it was like $375 when I
was done

If you can change your self or have a friend with
some exp its a very nice improvement over stock

Also has a nice lope at idle and very nice off
idle low end torque gains would be great for
towing

Also changed the exhaust note deeper and better
sounding
