Ok it's that time I have 92K on the truck and it has never had a tune up as long as I have owned it. It's starting to run ruff and the gas mileage is going down the drain only getting 15 miles per gallon use to get 21.

There is no codes yet but I don’t want to wait that long.

So my question is what all should I do to it for a good tune up? Here is what I have in mind.

NGK plugs

NGK O2s both unless I don’t need to change the rear one

MSD 8.5 weirs (might as well use the MSD I want to put the full MSD ignition in it any ways).

Jegs Brass performance Cap and Rotor (Jegs is on my way home from work)

PVC valve

180 thermostat

Clean the K&N air filter

Set the throttle position sensor at 7.75 volts

I just did an oil change and I am running synthetic so no need to do that yet.

I was going to put a V8 throttle body on it but that money is going to have to go towards the tune up. I was thinking about moding out the throttle body that is on it with a dermal and wile I have that off I was going to go ahead and take the intake off and shorten the runners, remove divider, and gasket mach the thing just as it is listed here on the site. I have pics of the intake and throttle body before and after the moding. Any pointers with this part would be much appreciated.

I have already done the crank sensor mod and moved the IAT to the air box and rigged up a ram air setup. (When I get a camera I will take some pics of it and post them).

O! One last thing I was going to change my exhaust tip to make it look pretty and give me a million more horse power.

This I about all I can afford at the moment "I have had the tip for a wile been waiting on better weather to put it on" I just wanted to make sure I was not missing anything important.

Thank you
B_

set the TPS @ .75vdc not 7.75. i know thats probably just a typo on your part but just wanted to make sure.

NGK plugs 1 range colder than stock range. FR5's i think.

you can modify the stock v6 TB as you indicated you might. i modded my stock TB. took the torque step out and shaved the top clean. made a very noticeable improvement. then i replaced it with a stock v8 TB. noticed a little improvement over the modded v6 TB.

modifying the manifold, just don't cut the runners too short or you'll lose some low end torque. if you read the other posts on this you should know what needs to be done. also clean up around the injector bosses. and if and when you can spring for it, get the Bosch 4hole design injectors from fiveomotorsports.com.

Cool thank you for the pointers.
The plugs I was looking at are the FR5-1 is this the right one? Or is there a different part number I should look up? I did not think of cleaning around the Injector bosses that is a good point.

Thinks like 4 hole injectors 1.75 RR and MSD Ignition are on the list but will have to what till we get are refund checks in may. Its burning a hole in my pocket and I have not even got it yet.

FR5-1 are the stock part number.

i know what you mean about the other stuff having to wait. i have been considering the Viper 1.7:1 rockers for mine. not roller but thats all i need. i have a brand new set of Crower RR's i may be wanting to unload.

forgot to mention something. if you're going to pull the intake to mod it, it may be a good idea to get a plenum reinforcement kit from someone like hughesengines.com. good insurance.
