Hi larry i have a 99' 3.9 4x4 auto and lately after it warms up after being driven and then i shut it of for only a little while like 30min and go to drive it when i go to step on the gas it makes a kind of banging noise and a large loss of power then if i step off the gas and then back on it hard it will pull out of it @ 3,000 rpm then it will run fine. any thoughts what it could be?

i'm not larry but you're looking for the "pre-cat" O2 which is the one before the cat. thats the one the pcm uses to adjust the A/F ratio. if you replace it, use an NGK brand. they are supposed to be the best.

now the CPS mod for timing, some guys on here have done it and are also running the superchips tuner with no problems. if you do it and it creates pinging, you can always move it back to the stock position no problem.

There is your problem right there

The Bosch Sensors are garbage

go to ngk.com and get an NGK NTK same as factory
sensor

front of cat A/F ratio
rear just tells the comp that the cat is working
properly

A lazy o2 will not trip the check engine light

The crank sensor mod yes if it pings go 1 colder
plug NGK FR5 $2.25 each run excellent
1 grade higher gas or a colder thermostate will
also help ping a lot of guys are running the mod
and the superchips with no probs

The thermostate in these trucks is a metered flow
and will run 200 degrees a reg stant 195 will run
185 degrees a full flow 180 will work if you live
where it never goes below 0 in colder weather
they will not hit 170 and it will trip a code
to cold to long they begain to open around
160 165 ok for warmer areas

get your plugs right from ngk.com with the sensor
and don't get the cheaper universal you have to
cut and solder the old plug on a hassle get the
oem and plug it right in and your done more power
and better gas mileage with a good o2

ngk plug gap
92 to 95 .035
96 up .040
with MSD system .055
and check them don't just put them in

you could save some money on those rockers by using the stock rockers for a Viper V10. they bolt right in and cost less than 100 bucks. they are non roller of course but i don't think you'd notice a difference in power.
