Subject: battery timer?

Message:
so this has now happened 3times to me, and i luck out everytime

i have 2amps in my truck, pop out indash tv, extra speakers and subs and neon and tons of battery drainers

when i have the accessories on and not the engine, needless to say, it drains the battery quickly

as of now, my trucks dead in my garage because i was changing the blower motor resistor with the door open(dome lights on)and the stereo on. the check gauges light comes on literally, no exaggeration after its to late to shut it off, so the light comes on, i turn the key, my truck doesnt even try to start

i was thinking about wiring in like a stopwatch or egg timing type thing where when i turn the accessories on, and not the engine, the timer starts and then the timer goes off and makes a noise or sumtin and lets me know my batterys gonna die soon since ive been running it for X number of minutes, so im not stranded without a way 2 get back home

1st time)in another city at 10pm with no1 around to get a jump from
2nd time)taking brother to dentist and waiting for him in the car
3rd time)changing blower motor resistor

any ideas on a way to remind me to turn the car on because my battery will die soon?

They already have what you want. I've seen these in books and stores . Don't recall which ones cause i had no interest. First off yo should have a 145 amp alternator. and then this box that hooks to the battery . Batteru gets low enough it will shut the asseries off'. T make one for the better campers that starts the motor when the battery has discharged enough to activate it. lots of things out there in the right places. try a quality boat shop first.most of there items are water proof.

that would work even better than a buzzer timer like i was thinking, if i had the radio on, i wouldnt hear it, but ill be sure to check it out

any idea what its called? so i know what to ask for?

even if u dont know the brand name, its better than going in there n telling the guy"so they make thing thing, it hooks here, n does this, blah blah"

Big trucks use just what you are looking for as well, I don't know just what they are called either, but if I leave on a dome light in my truck, (a 2000 Freightliner) its has what Freightliner calls a "Battery Protector" and a little note that says, if the battery level drops below a predetermined level, it will shut off the drain and the engine has to be restarted to "reset".
I am sure everyone uses a different name for the thing, but I'm sure you can find what you are looking for.
Good Luck
