yes, if they are both either LA or both Magnum. don't know how long it will last though. the 44RH/RE is a little stouter than the 42RH/RE behind the 3.9. as long as you don't pretend to be Speedracer it should be ok.

The A518 36,46 Rh/Re will also bolt to the 3.9
about 3 years ago a guy with an 88 dak had gone
threw his 3rd trans 2nd trasfer case he pulls a
big trailer so we put a 518 and a 231HD case in
and have not seen him since it was done
I do see him pulling the big horse trailer
all the time
