where should my oil pressure guage be at after the truck is warmed up and idling? When on highway and in 5th gear at 65mph it reads just a needle's width past halfway mark. is this about right? my guage has no numbers, just a low mark and a high mark.

Mine does the same thing. At about 1500 rpm and 65 mph the needle reads a little higher than half way. At 2000 rpm and about 75 mph the needle registers higher, right up at the 3/4 mark. I used to use Purolator Premium Plus oil filters and it never did that. With the Purolator, the pressure was always right at the 3/4 mark at ant speed above maybe 50. On my last oil change I used the Advance Auto Parts filter because I read that it was made by Purolator and was essentially the same. It has a little less filtering media, so that must be what is causing the gauge not to read right. I only used it because they had them on a buy one get one free sale. I'm taking it off this weekend and putting a Purolator back on. I guess if the gauge doesn't read right then, I'll know I have problems.

Yours I wouldn't worry about too much. Maybe remove the connector on the sending unit and clean it off and see if it does any better. Dakota49 has another recent post here somewhere about it.

Good luck.

Jimmy
