Try cleaning the IAC on the side of the throttle body. Clean it with carb cleaner and dont push on the plunger, just spray and gently wipe it. That should help.

How long since a tune-up?

I think he meant pinging, not pinking, although if it really is "Pinking" I think it could be worth a lot of money, then again that sounds too much like a communist truck.
