 Subject: Which Tranny do I have

All: I have a 2002 CC V6 SXT 4X4 auto. I thought I had a 42RE tranny in it but when I went to buy a replacement tranny filter this weekend the Purolator book said 45RE. Does anyone know what came thru on the 02 3.9 SXT?

42RE, the 45RFE/545RFE are behind the 4.7 v8

OK Daddio. Only thing I can think of then is the tranny filter is interchangeable. The PUROLATOR book only had the 45RE listed after the filter for the 3.9 V6.

not the same ...... your parts guy is VERY wrong .... from autozone its a TF164 filter kit ....... it is the same filter they have been using in the old A500 and A518 ... have him look it up under a 99 4X4

The 42 44 RH RE both use the same filter as does
the 44's 46 518 all the same
go somwhere else this guy is lost
you get a filter kit it will have the
filter and a gasket for both 500 and 518 in the
box what palnet was this guy on

Look in your glovebox usually a sticker decal with info on useful stuff from transmission,paint,trim code etc.
