 Subject: Transfer case query

I've phoned a couple of wreckers who tell me that the 93 dakota has a different transfer case than the other years, i've looked at the tag which says it's a 231 D.
Do I need a specific 93 case or will other years fit it?

Just a thought but did you try posting this on the off road board too? You might get a quicker response on that board mozzer.

what you have is a New Proccess/New Venture 231 transfer case, the D means they made some changes the problem is, you will probably need another one just like it in order for it to work. If you can take it out and go to a salvage yard and compare it to something else that could help. As far as it bolting up I don't think that would be a problem, unless the input shaft for the transfer case is different. In that case it won't work. if it would work that far though, the next problem would be the drive shaft yoke if it would fit. I hate it when they change things but sometimes its a "have to" case in order to make something last longer, or work better.
