I seem to remember you stating that some 3.9 owners were able to reach 200hp N/A with a bit of mods. Am I correct? If so, can you tell me how? Where to start?
Thanks for any info you are able to give me.
Also, what seems to be the upper limits for the 3.9 N/A? Turbo'd? Super'd?

i CANT SEE ALL OF YOUR POST BECAUSE OF THESE DAM
ADDS

a stock 3.9 with the mods can hit 175 rear wheel
with port match intake devider removes and runners
shortened to 14" just a good port clean and
polish no actual porting I have seen a few
hit 200 I have hit just over 200 with my
stock internal on a good day in my 4x4

if you want to go behond that cam and compresion
are 2 major factors here open intake bores to
50mm and run a 50mm fastman or f&b

my first stroked motor I built hit 267/300
with a 48mm F&B

my second with a 50mm 309/322

but these motors also cost $6,000 and $8,000
not including labor

Larry, do you feel the Halos are worth the price difference? Also, which ones do you recommend for a 98 3.9 with 14xxxx on the dash?

Yes my opinion they are worth the money but its
just like synthetic oil people just do not beleave
it makes any diff

for those stay with the $.99 autolite from walmart

halo 17 stock range
halo 15 1 colder

If you have any mods or plan on doing them go 1
colder and 99% of the trucks run better and get
better mileage 1 colder but than there is always
a few that do not but I think those trucks have
other issues

I stack them up as follows
champ
autolite
NGK V
Halo

the autolites run a little better than the champ
the ngk there is a very noticeable diff in power
and both KRC and Hughes engines are now selling
the ngk for the mag motors

the bosch reg is ok the +2 and +4 are junk in
these motors and run like crap

there is a noticeable diff from ngk to the halo

But I also know in todays world with everything
going up in price just cant afford to pay $9ea
for plugs

I figure it this way every time I leave my house
I spend a $100 and don't get much for it

I only go away 2 or three times a month to stores
and stuff like that these days my nearest gas
station is a 32 mile round trip

walmrt 60 mile round trip so gas hits me right away $5 just to go to the gas station and back
now thats rediculess to me

when I start driving gas was like $0.18 $0.19
a gallon

Is there anyway to post pictures on these boards...probably for members.
In any case, I discovered that I have a set of Bosch Platinum FR8LPX in my 3.9 Magnum and I was wanting someone to 'read' them (I took pics).
Let's see if I can describe them:
The center piece is white, and the tip is blackened. The ring with the threads is black on the edges and the hook is dullish white.
I don't know how long they been in, but I'm looking to replace them with some Halo's.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mac P

Go to some place like say Photo Bucket and upload the pictures. Then just copy and paste the link or URL in here.

I see a lot of this and the air/fuel ratio needs

Larry, can you tell me where you found your 3.9 stroker kits? I can't seem to find them anywhere. I tried emailing you direct, but you did not accept my address. Thanks.

Thanks Milk Man

I had read this entire thread before. Very useful tips that I have bookmarked. Larry is the man. But I can't find a mention of the 3.9 stroker. The normal stroker kit suppliers don't return my emails.

That's the conclusion I've come to. Humbug. Stokerkits.com said they looked at it once, but never went forward. A quote from Hughes Engines, "The split crankpin that the V6's use make this a very complex/expensive crankshaft to stroke." I wish I knew where Larry from J&J Auto got his.

My sweet original one owner '87 4X4 short box stick, needs repowering. I guess I could go to one of my LB stroker engines, but then I'm talking complete power train change and I'm not so sure I want that big of a project, nor do I want to take a torch to the little guy.

I just was in the right place at the right time

The local off road racing team had 6 or 8 raw
billits and I bought 2 1 3.58 and 1 at 4.0 stroke

They were for off road race trucks we do all
there paint work for the last 25 30 years so I
was lucky

stroker kits was making them only sold a few
and stoped some blocks the counter weights would
not clear is one reason they stoped

not all castings are the same
