I want to replace my O2 sensors I know Bosche makes O2 sensors, but I've heard that their sparkplugs were crappy. So, I'm kinda under the impression that their O2 sensors are as well. I think I should expect an increase in mpg, right? What about any performance increase?
Thanks

if your present O2's aren't up to snuff you should see an improvement in mileage. a lot of people on here recommend using NGK/NTK O2's you can buy direct from NGK.

don't change them just because. if you have seen a sudden drop in mileage, that's a good indicator they are going/ are bad. check them out either with a scanner or DVOM.

daddio- I have a 98 3.9 CC with 146xxx on the dash. I bought it earlier this year with 12-13xxxx on the dash. I've got a Fram paper air filter on (I'll be switching to a higher end filter or CAI (maybe not, havn'nt been hearing good things about those lately) soon). I am currently getting 13.8 avg mpg, which I think is too Hummer like for my comfort. I am looking to replace sparkplugs soon, so I thought I'd round out the tune-up with some new O2 sensors (no telling when they were last replaced anyway).
Is there anything else I should be looking at as far as increasing mileage/tuning up?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

My 02 QC had denso's and i replaced them with ngk. No noticable difference in mpg.

I changed both of mine because it was near the recommended interval and i watched them with my scanner and they were switching slowly.

I'll probably buy denso's next time.

MacP, is that a 4x4 or 4x2? if that's avg combined mileage that's horrible. i've got an '00 QC, 3.9 5spd, 4x2, 15" wheels and 3.55:1 gears. 18mpg city/ avg hwy 22 and have gotten right at 24 @ 70 w/ ac and 1000 lbs people and luggage.

you might want to start from scratch. complete tuneup, cap and rotor with brass contacts. i got Borg Warner @ O'reillys. wires, plugs. i know someone won't like this but i've been running Bosch Plat plugs(regular) for the last 40k nad the truck runs and idles great.

check tire pressure and alignment. a low tire or bad alignment can affect mileage anywhere from 2-8%. i'm sure someone will add.

stay away from the bosch they do not work in the
dodge trucks

ngk.com

the best plug for the money is the NGK Vpower
FR4 stock heat
FR5 1 range colder

I will still swear by the halo's but there $9 ea
vpower around $2.25

also 99% of the trucks run better 1 range colder

Dan,I to have an 02'CC and put in DENSO's as maintenance item suggested the originals were doing there job, might of got a few more miles but like to keep up the maintenance which is the key for many years ahead. See to many wait for them to fail then curse and whine and expect a miracle. And for those BOSCH didn't like the idea cutting my pigtail ends and using what they provide I think thats why these fail so fast, my thoughts.I didn't see any gains in mileage remained the same and for plugs I don't see why break your wallet for what ? if your plugs come out with color suggested put back what works no plug will give a noticeable difference again my thoughts.

Larry, do you feel the Halos are worth the price difference? Also, which ones do you recommend for a 98 3.9 with 14xxxx on the dash?

Pete - I agree. I'm not getting halo plugs or ngk o2 sensors anymore. I didn't see any gains, my handheld scanner and various obdii software packages didn't point me to anything being wrong.

maybe i'm just not as persistant as larry, I'm not out there with my multimeter probing every sensor :)

I switched to the Halo's and I think they are wroth the money, I was using Bosch Plus2 plugs and when I put the Halo's in, I could tell the difference right away, faster starts, smoother idle, and a feeling of slightly more power, but that could be just me. I did however, gain 1.5-2 miles per galon. That's hiway, town driving.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Good Luck

seems like those reporting good results with halo's here are V6s not V8s.

Am I the only one who tried them with 4.7L V8 ?
