I've heard enough about Halo sparkplugs from here to want some. So, I was looking at the website for Halo plugs, and noted that it said something about advancing the the timing to account for the fact that Halo sparkplugs would ignite 30% faster. I wanted to know how that applies to a 98 3.9V6, as I thought timing wasn't adjustable for my engine. If applicable, how would I go about adjusting my timing and how hard would that be for someone with limited engine expericance (I've done sparkplugs before, but not on my Dak).
I'm in serious need of a tune-up (I'm getting 13.8 mpg). I wanna do my O2 sensors as well, can anyone recommend some.
Thanks

well

no timing adjust

The faster burn will be learned by the computer
and it will adjust the air/fuel ratio

Never got a ping problem with the halo's

the timing adjust is for older cars
ford and chrysle adapt well to the halo but the
GM some do not

I saw no gains on halos in my 02 QC 4x4 4.7L auto.

new O2 sensors front and back. Other sensors read ok on my diagnostic software (pc based and hand held scanner). I get similar data on my 02 as my buddies 03 (i have 87k on mine now and he has 42k on his) spark plugs look fine, nice tanish color. I've got about 15k miles on them and getting same mileage as the old ones I replaced them with.

crank position sensor

located in the bell right behind the pass side
head

slot holes 3/8 and move it down towards the oil
filter and you will move the base timing from 10
btdc to 13 14 degrees before tdc

this mod helps all over and good gas mileage gains
but you should run 1 range colder just runnig
1 colder in 99% of the trucks improves power
and mileage

the halo's are $9 ea
NGK Vpower $2.25ea you will be happy with these
FR4 stock range
FR5 1 colder

the halo is better but not many will pay the price

I put a halo in my little john deere garden
tractor man what a diff it made

I have customers that have over 100,000 with the
halo's and still running perfict nice color no
ware even with the MSD systems

we also run the halo's in the super charged trucks
and they are holding up great all the others
are waisted around 10,000 miles recomended 8,000
mile replacement but the halos just keep going
fine
