I've seen a few people talk about the crank sensor mod....Will this retard timing and if so how do you do it?

i hate to answer a question with a question but, why would you want to retard the timing unless you're running boost.

The crank sensor mod advances the timing by about 4 degrees. Better low end torque and ya why would u want to decrease it unless your running boost?

because i'm running boost. So is there anyway to retard the timing....nobody can flash the obd1 and i really don't want to pay 1800.00 for a stand alone unit.

i'm not a forced induction expert but i'm afraid you'll have to go with some type of aftermarket controller. you don't just want to retard timing totally, only when under boost. otherwise it will be a dog when you're just cruising around.

someone posted on here about some new tuner form, i think KRC performance called the SCT. look around here it's in one of the threads here.

this might work for you:

http://www.cranecams.com/?show=browseParts&lvl=4&prt=1979&action=partSpec&partNumber=6000-6425

there are a few other options for ignition retard on cranes website.

to answer the original question, no. the CPS mod is to advance timing.

I wonder will the msd digital 6, I ran one on my mustang, will it retard timing on the obd1? It worked on N20, when the switch was armed it would pull out timing for the bottle.
