how much of a difference would there be if i got 255/70r15's as opposed to the 255/65's i have on there now? i'm sure it would affect the speedometer but would it read slower or faster. i found some tires at wal-mart but they are the 255/70's but they are only $99 each. i forget what brand they are. for some reason im having a tough time finding the 255/65's and don't want goodyear's!

ccman, the 255/70's are just a tad bit taller, if you put them side by side, you would see the difference. When you put on a taller tire, it will speed up the truck, and slow down your speedo, slightly. Since you are only going from a 65 to a 70, I doubt it will make a big difference, may at high speeds you may have a little more of a difference, still I doubt if it will more than a couple of miles per hour. One thing to find out is, is your speedo correct as it is? I found on my Dak. (its an 88) my speedo was a little fast, so when I put slightly larger tires on it , it actually made it correct.
Good Luck,

i don't know if my speedo is right or not. I bought the truck new with these tires on it. i would be inclined to think that factory would have made sure everything was calibrated, then again maybe not!

i think my speedo is slow. in other words, it's going faster than the speedo says. everytime i go by one of those speed signs, the ones that show you how fast you're going, it's always 4-5 mph faster than what the speedo says. i don't know how accurate those radar things are but i've never been stopped by a cop for speeding and i've had them right behind me!

so far the only tires that i have found that are 255/65's are either goodyear or a really high rated tire that cost $2-300 dollars a piece. like on tirerack.com.

Your speedometer be off 3 mph faster clocked yesterday in my area had one of those standing machines are upper authorities use for speeders my truck said 45 and machine was saying 48. As for ride Ive notice bit rougher ride and i tried all different tire pressures from 30-35 all bout same just got different gas mileage have good shocks that I replaced shortly after I got these tires which I have about 25,000 miles on them now they are Kelly Sarfari SUV 50,000 mile rated from Belle Tire. I had some problems finding the OEM size about 2 yrs. ago and Goodyear was the only one back then $143 and some change and of course everything was bad on truck to them walked away went to Belle Tire gave me a bad taste to but they sold me on the tires fort $103 a tire. Check out Sams club or Costco I now see that carry the exact size at Sams they carry Bridgestone Brand think they were $99.00 ?? not sure though.I will go back to OEM size after these wear down hopefully there be even more choices then whats out there now and what was out there.
