I started diggine into my truck todat. I replace the the passanger side valve cover gasket and the thermostat/gasket/housing with out too much hassel. I went to reaplce the drivers side valve cover gasket and my jaw dropped. I know what I probaly have to do but I just wanted to check with you guys on this. Do I have to unplug all of those sensors on the side of the motor to be able to move the wiring harness out of the way to be able to get to the valve cover bolds on the top? Thanks!

well i took my valve covers off several times, i never had to unplug anything. theres alittle plastic loop that holds the wiring harness onto the valvecover studs but that just pulls up, then you should be able to get to those bolts

i forgot to mention, i dont know if your gonna have this issue, but its really hard to get the valve cover off the driver side because the a/c compressor makes a tight fit, but thats because i had some pretty tall roller rockers, if you have stock rocker arms im sure itll be a peice of cake

I am not worried about the a/c compressor on my truck, it is fairly centered on the motor, as I said, the wireing harness is the only thing that concerns me. I will take another peak at it tomorrow.

did my valve covers about 3 months ago. just do like pennywisdomj said, pull those wire harness clips off the bolts so that you can pull the harness up out of the way. i have stock rockers and did not have a problem getting the cover off. it is still a bit tight but you'll figure it out. depending on how dirty it is under your hood, you may want to blow everything off with an air nozzle if you have access to an air compressor. if not i'd recommend washing your engine because i had a lot of debris and dirt resting on the valve covers and intake manifold krevices. you don't want to get any dirt in there.

just push the wires over a little and it will
come off same to reinstal it

I hope you did not get a set of rubber gaskets
there junk and will deform and leak in a years
time

Victor steel and cork or the factory steel and
silicone the victors are a special order there
reg gasket is junk rubber

Had a lot of customers who used them and the
rubber expanded and either went into the motor
or poped out under the cover and leaked bad
one lost 3 Qts oil in 30 miles

Use quility gaskets not the cheapest you can find
not a good idea
